Born in Wayne County on August 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Jesse and Ida Barnes Bass. Mr. Bass loved being outside gardening, fishing and working with his hands. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Donnie Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Heights Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 7 until 9 at the funeral home. Surviving are: his son, Jesse Bass and wife Anna of Clayton; three daughters, Carol Johnson and husband Kim of Princeton, Pat Bass of Holly Springs, Helen Buckingham and husband John of Pine Level; four grandchildren, Jeremy Lamm and wife Christi, Nikki Lamm, Caroline Buckingham, Jessica Bass.
