Richard Edward ?Rick? Bass
BASS, RICHARD "RICK" EDWARD, age 51, passed away peacefully in his home on March 20, 2005 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, graduating in 1971 from Shades Valley High School. He attended the University of Alabama for three years where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Nursing.
He began his career in nursing at Brookwood Medical Center and South Highlands Hospital. He moved to Atlanta in 1980 to work at Emory University Hospital where he was employed for many years.
His family, friends and fellow employees will remember Rick for his sense of humor and spirit of adventure. He was a valuable resource to his fellow employees at Emory. He was predeceased by his mother, Gwendolyn Avo Reeves Bass and his faithful dog, Chip.
He is survived by his father, Edward H. Bass, Jr. of Birmingham; his sister, Barbara Baites (John) of Birmingham; his brother, Robert H. Bass(Donna) of River Ridge, LA; nieces, Robin Baites of Jacksonville, FL; Rebekah and Melissa Bass of River Ridge, LA; nephew, Timothy Baites of Birmingham. Roommate Bob Fedor of Atlanta, GA. And his dearly beloved dog, Robbi. He also leaves a host of dear friends from Emory University Hospital.
