R.E. Bass Sr.
ELBERTON, Ga. ? Robert Emmett ?Bob? Bass Sr., 361 E. Church St., died in Elberton-Elbert County Hospital Thursday after several years declining health and four days serious illness.
A native of Richmond, Va., he had lived in Elberton for the last 40 years. He was a son of the late Samuel Bruce and May Betts Bass. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Elberton Elks Lodge 110 and was a retired shoe salesman.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Thelma Brewer Bass of the home; a son, Robert Emmett Bass Jr. of Rome; a daughter, Mrs. Jimmy Riley of Atlanta; two brothers, Arthur Bass of Athens and Percy Bass of Guesta, Fla.; a sisters, Mrs. J.C. White of Blackstone, Va; four grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hicks Funeral Home chaptl by the Rev. George Hulsey. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. H.C. Ingram, Henry Gobel, T.T. Thornton Jr., Cone Thornton, C.E. Taylor and Dr. James H. Piper.
The body is at the funeral home and the family is at the residence.
