He was 75. Born in Coffee County, Ala., on Oct. 11, 1919, he moved to New Brockton, Ala., in 1953. He was owner and operator of a grocery story and gas service station on 30th Street. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rethea Mae Bass in 1963. He is survived by his daughters, Helen Nunley, Davenport, and Josie Welch, Winter Haven; brother, John Bass, Haines City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City. Lane-Holt Funeral Home, Haines City.
