Barbara Ann Bass

Cumberland, MD - Barbara Ann Bass, 82, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.
Born May 3, 1933, in Salem, VA, Mrs. Bass was the daughter of late Eddie Lewis Allen and Elsie Juanita (Linkous) Allen.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: William Rowe Bass, November 23, 2014; a brother: Robert Lewis Allen; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Barbara attended Longwood College, near Roanoke, VA.
She was a homemaker and was formerly employed at Sears Department Store in the Auditing Department with ten years of service. While in Anderson, SC, Barbara was actively involved with the Women's Circle of the Presbyterian Church, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and was a member of various bridge clubs.
A fun loving lady, Barbara cherished time with and was fully devoted to her family.
Barbara is survived by her daughter: Kyler Merrick and husband, Steven, Duncansville, PA; and her son: Kevin Bass and wife, Carol, Accident, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren: James Merrick and wife, Allison, Aberdeen, Scotland; Kara Ayaram and husband, David, Georgetown, TX; Jeremy Merrick and wife, Suzie, Concord, NC; Matthew Bass, Washington, DC; Scott Bass; and Emma Bass, both of Baltimore, MD; as well as four great grandchildren. Barbara also leaves behind a sister-in-law: Karen Allen, Slidell, LA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, July 10, 2015, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 10, 2015, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Daren Ritchey officiating. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The family would like to express their thanks and great appreciation to Barbara's special caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Barbara's name to WMHS Home Hospice Care, 1050 West Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, MD 21502; or, Lion's Center, Activities Department, Seton Drive Extended, Cumberland, MD 21502.
