Ray S. Bass Jr.
Ray S. Bass, 79, of Decatur died 7:16 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 30, 1999) in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Graceland/ Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour before services. Private family burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials: Grace United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
Mr. Bass was born in Decatur on March 4, 1920, the son of Ray S. Sr. and Ruth L. Rogers Bass, and he graduated from Georgia Military Academy and attended Millikin University. He was a member of the National Association of Machine Accountants. He retired from A.E. Staley in 1986 after 30 years as director of the Internal Auditing Division. He was an avid bass fisherman. He married Phyllis Orey on June 22, 1941.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Ray S. Bass III and wife Cris of Tempe, Ariz.; Bill Bass and wife LeEtta of Forsyth; Stephen G. Bass of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, the Rev. Angie McCarty and husband Sam of Tucson, Ariz.; Eric J.R. Bass of Tempe; Corey Bass of Warrenville; Kirsten Bass of Romeoville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
