Barbara Jean Morris was born July 10, 1948 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Ike, Sr., and Rachel Bass. She was one of 16 children. She transitioned from this life peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021. As a teenager, she attended Franklin Parish High School. Barbara accepted Christ during a revival service in 1976. She served as a childcare provider for over 20 years while owning multiple properties.
In 1966, Barbara relocated to Joliet, IL where she became a mother to three children, Debra, Brenda, and Glenda. In 1970, she married Jessie J. Morris, Sr. and to this union, two sons were born, Jessie, Jr., and Derrick Morris.
Barbara enjoyed fishing, cooking family meals, holiday dinners, and spending time with her grandchildren. Above all, Barbara was very adamant about reading and studying the Word of God.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Ike, Sr. and Rachel Bass; one brother, Louis Bass, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Jessie Morris, Sr. of 51 years; three daughters, Debra (Lynn) Lee of Minooka, IL; Brenda Cobb of Royal Oak, MI; and Glenda Cobb of Hamtramck, MI; two sons, Jessie (Brittany) Morris, Jr. of Joliet, IL; and Derrick (Stefanie) Morris of Duluth, GA; eight grandchildren, Charity McGee, Ramirus Terry, Lamaar Jones, Xavier Jones, Aaron Jones, Tre?vaughn McMullen, Christian Morris, and Zaire Morris; three great-grandchildren, Justin, Jalissa, and Jayden Blackwell; eight sisters, five brothers and a host of nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
