Frank Lester E. Bass
SOUTH BEND - Frank Lester Eugene Bass, 77 of South Bend, was born to the union of the late Frank Bass and Margaret (Levy) Bass on January 11,1932 in Union City, Tennessee.
At the age of 14, he relocated to Berrien Springs, MI where he worked at an apple orchard. Later he began working for several automobile dealerships in Dowagiac, Niles, MI and South Bend, IN, where he worked as a detailer and fine tuned his detailing skills. Later he would work in various fields of construction logistics, as well as a production line painter and primer.
He later would return to the general labor field as a heavy equipment operator for the City of South Bend, until he was injured and forced to retire from the work that he so loved. Frank was a member of the Phil Gundy Local Lodge # 11939 G.U.O of O.F and proudly stood with honor, faith, leadership and integrity of the organization. He was also a member of Local 364 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs,
Warehousemen and Helpers of America.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife and best friend Alice K. (Hunt) Bass, six children, four aunts, two brothers, and godfather(s) Thomas Dreisbach of Dreisbach Cadillac dealership Detroit, MI. and John Scott of South Bend, IN. Frank is survived by two daughters, Tracey L. Bass and Crystal M. (Gregory) Wilson, both of South Bend, IN.; a son Frank L.(Angie) James of Lexington, SC; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren all of South Bend, along with a large host of adopted children, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
