George R. Bass
George R. Bass, 93, of 24 Barnum Road, Danbury, husband of Bessie Cooper Bass, died at Danbury Hospital yesterday.
He was born in Windham, Feb. 6, 1890, son of the late Edward and Mary A. Holt Bass. Mr. Bass lived in Windham and Wilton before moving to Danbury in 1944. He was foreman of the J. Alden Weir estate in Wilton from 1929 until his retirement in 1944. He was a member of the New Fairfield Congregational Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by six sons, George A. Bass, Russell C. Bass, Orin E. Bass and Kenneth J. Bass, all of Danbury, Charles E. Bass of Southington and Clifford E. Bass of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Peter F. Morabito of Danbury; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be in the New Fairfield Congregational Church Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. James Toner officiating.
Burial will be in Pembroke Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends may call at the Hull Home, 60 Division St., tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Bass may be made to the Organ Fund of the New Fairfield Congregational Church.
