Reginald Gordon Bassett

BASSETT, Reginald Gordon - Born July 25th, 1933, promoted to the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour at the L.H.S.C. - University Campus on Friday, December 2nd, 2011 in his 79th year. Cherished husband of 57+ years to Olga Bassett (nee Yaworsky). Lovingly remembered by his son Gordon and his wife Brenda of St. Williams, their children Christine, Gordon Jr. (fiancée Erin) and Melissa (Cameron); and by his daughter Joanne Jamieson and her husband Gordon of Hamilton. Reg will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews & extended family. Predeceased by his parents, the late Reginald and Rita (Haun) Bassett and by his brother Albert Bassett. Reg was a former youth / senior bandmaster and choir leader with the Salvation Army Church, Simcoe. He also served as bandmaster and choir leader in the Goderich Salvation Army for 8 years. Before his retirement, Reg worked with the Ministry of Corrections for over 30 years and was dedicated to the organization of marching bands in the Glendale Correctional School. Friends are invited to share their memories of Reg with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe N3Y 3R3 for visitation on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel following visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charlie Havens officiating. Interment of Ashes: Walsh United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate are asked to consider the Heart & Stroke or the Kidney Foundation.
