  Notes	Franklin Evening Star, Indiana, April 11, 1921 Funeral Of Mrs. Bass To Be Tuesday Afternoon Death Comes To Pioneer Resident of Greenwood Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. Lavinia Brewer Bass, 80 years of age, wife of William H. Bass, who died at her home in Greenwood Sunday morning, will be conducted at the Greenwood Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. E. P. Jewett, of Indianapolis. Dwight Murphy, bass soloist, of Indianapolis, will sing, and the nephews and grand-nephews of Mrs. Bass will act as casket bearers. Mrs. Bass was a pioneer of Indiana, being the daughter of Abram V. Brewer who came to Indiana from Kentucky several years prior to 1840, when Mrs. Bass was born. He was the owner of a farm which jointed the farm of the family of Mr. Bass at the intersection of the two principal streets of what is now Greenwood. The beautiful home of Dr. D. W. Sheek is the old Bass homestead. Nov. 28, 1866, Mr. and Mrs. Bass were married. Mrs. Bass always was much interested in community affairs and did much to stimulate interest in literature. Many years ago she helped to organize the chautauqua, and she also was a member of the Woman's club. She was the senior member of the Methodist church and a charter member of its Foreign Missionary society, which has been organized for more than forty years. Mrs. Bass leaves her husband, five daughters and five grandchildren. A son, Mark L. Bass, died several years ago. Her daughters are Alice, Kate W., Jessie F., and Margaretta Bass of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Thomas E. Newsom of Greenwood. Franklin Evening Star, Indiana, April 12, 1921 Funeral Of Mrs. Bass Was Largely Attended A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral services of Mrs. William H. Bass, 80 years of age, held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. E. P. Jewett, of Indianapolis. Dwight Murphy, bass soloist, of Indianapolis, rendered beautiful vocal selections during the services. The casket bearers were nephews and grand-nephews of Mrs. Bass. Burial was held in the Greenwood cemetery.
