Darrell Treseder Bass
RIVERDALE - Darrell Treseder Bass passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife and family by his side.
Darrell was born on January 31, 1926, in Ogden, Utah. He was the only child born to William Earl and Bessie Treseder Bass. Darrell married Norma Stevens in 1947, they later divorced. He married Helen Jensen in November 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Darrell was a graduate of Ogden High School, and attended the University of Utah.
He served in the U.S. Army as a lineman during World War II, and was honorably discharged in April 1947. Darrell worked at Utah Auto Parts in Ogden, and retired from Hill Air Force Base, where he worked in Data Services.
He was a member of the Weber County Jeep Patrol, serving as Commander. He loved helping others and was always ready to serve. Darrell loved camping and being with his family. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was an accomplished billiards player. Many winters were spent at Lake Havasu, AZ, with their many friends, with whom they had some memorable times. They also spent some good times on the Washington and Oregon coasts salmon fishing in the summers.
Darrell was very proud of his four children and two step-children, and was a good father to them. Surviving are his wife, Helen, of Riverdale; sons, Lyle (Jeanne) Bass, Ridgway, CO; Larry (Karen) Bass, Kaysville; Clark (Nancy) Bass, Slaterville; daughter, Cris (Leon) Rogers, Provo; stepdaughter, Pat (Bob) Robinson, Ogden; stepson, Dale (Gail) Jensen, Nine Mile Falls, WA; twenty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Emma Snyder Bass, and stepsister, Marie Dalgano.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hospice team, especially Marty, John and Ali, who did an excellent job and were so helpful in our time of need.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, January 5, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Monday from 12 to 12:45 p.m., at Leavitt"s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, January 6, at 1 p.m., at Washington Heights Memorial Park.
