Mildred S. Gosselin, 104, of Gettysburg, died Thursday evening, May 10, 2012 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Home.
Born August 5, 1907 in Turners Falls, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Delena (Young) Bessette. She was the wife of the late Edmond A. Gosselin.Mrs. Gosselin was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. She first worked at the Peabody Conservation of Music before becoming a librarian for the Baltimore County Public Library.
She is survived by her five children, Roma Ruther, of Williamsburg, Va., Shirley Herrick, of Crofton, Md., Mary Lou Crutchfield and her husband Richard, of Gettysburg, Paul Gosselin and his wife Patricia A., of Chesterfield, Va., Leigh Forshey and her husband Robert, of Carroll Valley, her daughter-in-law, Patricia Gosselin of Stevensville, Md., 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death her son, Robert Gosselin; two sons-in-law, William Ruther and Wayne Herrick; four brothers, Arthur Bessette, Harold Bessette, Winslow Bessette, Charles Bessette, and her sister, Virginia Desautel.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High St., Gettysburg with her pastor the Rev. Fr. Bernardo Pistone, Celebrant. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon at Louden Park Cemetery, Baltimore, Md. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the start of Mass Tuesday morning at the church. The Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg is in charge of funeral arrangements.
