Ralph Bass
SUSANVILLE ? Funeral services for Ralph Bass, 85, will be at 2 p.m. today in Lucero-Carlson Colonial Mortuary. Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery.
The Lassen County native died Wednesday at Lassen Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bass? grandfather, Richard, settled in Elysian Valley in 1859. Bass Hill was named for the family.
Mr. Bass had lived in the Janesville area, where he was a rancher, all his life. He was a member of the Janesville Grange and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of World War I and received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Ethel of Janesville; sons, Robert of Standish and Rollin of Inyokern, Kern County; stepsons, larry Ritter of New York and Charles Ritter of Susanville; daughters, Edna Canoy and Mary Lyn Jones, both of Susanville, and Catherine Mancuso of Cottonwood; brothers, Jay Bass of Marysville and William Bass of Davis; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
The famly requests that any remembrances be sent to a charity of the donor?s choice.
