Peggy Lou Bass Jones
Peggy Lou Bass Jones, 86, passed away suddenly on February 8th at her home in Cedar Park, Texas. Her loving husband Charles was by her side.
Peggy was born in Decatur, IL on March 6th, 1937, to Marjorie and Gilbert Bass. She married herself a Marine named Charles in California on October 19, 1958, while he was still in the Marine Corp. After 65 years of marriage, he still rubbed her back every night when they went to bed. Peggy and Charles had four children and moved from Phoenix to Austin in 1964. They loved South Austin but moved to Cedar Park in 2007 to be closer to family.
Grandma Peggy loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and was known to play a good game of Yahtzee. She loved fishing with Charles and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, home grown tomatoes and was a voracious reader in her free time. She will be remembered for being the loving matriarch in the family who always wanted everything just so. Peggy is survived by Charles, her husband of 65 years; her oldest daughter Marla and her husband Robin; her oldest son Chuck Jr and his wife Brigette. She is also survived by her four Grandkids: Nikki, Lindsey, Taylor and Trace. And by her Great-Grandkids Benjamin, Tyson, Dominic, Kate, Andrew, Emmett, Elliott and Greyson. Plus many nieces, nephews and other loving family members who all played a large role in her life.
Peggy was preceded in death by her youngest children; son Billy (1994) and daughter Teri Lynn (2014); both of whom she missed every day. She was also preceded in death by her mother Marjorie, father Gilbert, and her sister Dodie.
A memorial service will be held on February 17th at Enoch Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas, where she will be interred right next to Teri and Billy.
