Bessettes Note 50th
TURNERS Falls ? Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Bessette of 75 Third Street observed their golden wedding anniversary Tuesday with a family dinner at The Gables in South Deerfield.
The couple was presented a money tree, wedding cake and other gifts. A special guest was Bessette?s brother, Harold, of Agawam, who was best man at the wedding. Mrs. Harold Bessette also attended.
The Charles Bessettes were married Dec. 27, 1910, in St. Mary?s Church by the late Rev. Fr. Purcell. Mrs. Bessette, the former Eva Zimmerman, and her husband are natives of Turners Falls and have always resided here, except for five years in Montague City.
They have four children, Mrs. Florence St. Germain of Montague Center, Raymond of South Deerfield, Charles R. of Montague Road and Russell, of Greenfield; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bessette, now retired, was for many years employed by the Noyes Foundry in Greenfield. He is a member of Greenfield Lodge of Moose and Elks and Daly Solomon VFW Post. Mrs. Bessettee is a member of the Catholic Woman?s Council of St. Mary?s Church. Both are members of that parish.

TURNERS FALLS – Charles F. Bessette, 77, of 22 Third St., died Monday in Farren Memorial Hospital, Montague City. Born in Montague he was a molder employed by Noyes Foundry many years. Besides his wife the former Eva Zimmerman, he leaves three sons, Raymond and Charles F. Jr., both of Turners Falls and Russell C. of Greenfield, a daughter, Mrs. Eugene St. Germain of Turners Falls; three brothers, Arthur of Greenfield, Harold of Springfield and Winslow of New London, Conn., and two sisters, Mrs. Ambrose Desautels of Greenfield and Mrs. Edwin Gosselin of Baltimore, Md. McCarthy funeral home, is in charge.
