Sammy Gene Bass
Sammy Gene Bass, 61-yearold Vinita resident, passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 6, 1959, in Dalzell, South Carolina, to Bobby and Dorothy (Waters) Bass.
Sam was a 1977 graduate of Vinita High School. On July 25, 1977, he married Teresa Lynn Malotte; she preceded him in death No. v18, 2016.
Sam was a truck driver for many years before his health prevented him from working. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita. Sam liked to fish, mow and work on mowers, driving his truck and most of all he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Teresa.
The family includes: his children, Kim Pifer and husband Josh, Sammy 'Dink' Bass Jr. and wife Tina, all of Vinita; his siblings, Patty Cusick of Pryor, Terry Bass and Kenny Bass of Vinita; his grandchildren, Denton Effinger and wife Cheyenne, Brian Tippett-Pifer, Sami Tippett-Pifer, Pierson Pifer, Cheyenne Round, Brennan Round and Hadlie Seaton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.
The celebration of life will be held Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita with Pastor Shane Culp officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
