David Tommy Bass
Mr. David Lee "Tommy" Bass, 79, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at his residence. Mr. Bass was born March 14, 1938, in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Wilburn Edward Bass and Margie Lee Watts Reynolds. He retired from Cannon Mills Swink Plant in Salisbury where he was a spinning supervisor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, Woodmen of the World, Boy Scouts Central North Carolina Council for over 30 years and was active in the YMCA Senior Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Bass and Terry Bass; sister, Nancy Bass; and two grandchildren, Barry Nicholous Bass and Mikala Lee Bass. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Katie Burr Bass; two sons, Barry Bass of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Larry Bass of Kannapolis; five sisters, Linda Faber of New Orleans, La., Mary Ann Threadgill of Lugoff, S.C., Barbara Bass of Los Angeles, Calif., Laverne Phillips of Florida and Karen Austin of Lenoir; two brothers, Frankie Bass of Lenoir and Wilburn Bass of Hinesville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Tangie Cochran, Dustin Bass and Kaitlin Bass; and four great-grandchildren. Service: A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jack Kivett and Pastor Keith Flack will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
