Maude Hollowell Bass, 88, of Britthaven, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003. Mrs. Bass was the daughter of the late Ever Lena Perry and Thomas Nixon Hollowell and the wife of the late Clemon Elton Bass. She was a member of Edenton Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris B. Hollowell of Tyner, N.C., and Catherine B. Taylor of Brandon, Fla.; three sons, Clemon Elton Bass Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Jimmy C. Bass of Edenton, N.C., and Ron Bass of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Alverta Ingram of Fayetteville, N.C., and Annabelle Hollowell of Norfolk; three brothers, Robert P. Hollowell, Thomas N. Hollowell and Johnnie Hollowell, all of Hertford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Mrs. Bass's life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Evans' chapel with the Rev. Wayne Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Evans Funerals & Cremations and at other times at the home of Beverly and Jimmy Bass, 359 Mexico Road, Edenton, NC 27932. Memorials may be made to the Edenton Baptist Challenge to Build Fund, 200 S. Granville St., Edenton, NC 27932.
