Lena B. Bunch
EDENTON - Lena Bass Bunch, 99, formerly of the 400 block of Rocky Hock Creek Road and more recently of Edenton Prime Time died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Bunch was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Augustus A. and Mittie Halsey Bass. A homemaker, she was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, the Ina Belle Coleman Circle and the Beach Fork Home Demonstration Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Bunch; a daughter, Lillie Mae B. Rogerson; a step-grandson, Ronnie Rogerson; six sisters, Vera Bunch, Sadie Hollowell, Lizzie Pearce, Agnes White, Lessie Layton and Cora Evans; and four brothers, Jack Bass, Carey Bass, Lloyd Bass and Lindsey Bass.
Surviving are one son, Lewis E. Bunch and wife Lorene of Edenton; four daughters, Pattie B. Hollowell and husband Maurice of Suffolk, Ruby B. Long and husband Claude of Greenville, N.C., Etta B. Riddick and husband Jesse Benton of Corapeake and Peggy B. Ward and husband Joseph of Tyner; 11 grandchildren, John Rogerson, Donna Peele and husband Ted, Angela Peek and husband Brian, Vickie Horne and husband Bob, Cindy Mehalko and husband Andrew, Claudia Spencer and husband Doug, Martin Long and wife Alexis, Lorne Wiggins and wife Diana, Roderick Wiggins and wife Angela, Natalie Brown and husband Lyl and Bryan Ward; four step-grandchildren, Jimmy Rogerson and wife Lynne, Janet Lilley and husband Paul, Jacqueline Price and husband Don and J.B. Riddick and wife Teri; 19 great-grandchildren, Brandi and Luke Peele, Nikolai Peek, Allen and Ashley Horne, Andrea, Megan, Andy, Paige, Heather, Tyler and Madeline Mehalko, Nathan and Emma Spencer, Haleigh Long, Elizabeth and Maci Wiggins and Landon and Colby Brown; and five step-great-grandchildren, Rachel and Dylan Lilley, Elaina Price and Gage and Hayden Riddick.
A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton and Pastor Tracy Smith. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton and all other times at the home of her son, 408 Rocky Hock Creek Road.
