  Notes	Augusta Chronicle, Georgia, 25 September 1888 Death of Major J.N. Bass Major J. N. Bass, superintendent of the Americus, Preston and Lumpkin railroad, died of malarial fever at the house of Mr. Shelman, Etowah Heights, seven miles from Cartersville, Saturday evening. His remains were buried in Macon yesterday afternoon. Major Bass was stationed in Augusta as superintendent of the Port Royal railroad for several years, and the news of his death will be received with regret by his friends here. He leaves an interesting family to mourn his loss.
