Earl Bassett Jr.
April 25, 1927 ? May 2, 2022
Royalton, VT
Earl Bassett, Jr., 95, died at his home on May 2nd, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Earl was born April 25th, 1927, in Barre, VT. He met Lois Vestal at a square dance; they were married October 10th, 1953; and they bought a house on the North Road in Royalton in 1955.
Earl worked for Easter A.I. as a breeding technician for 44 years, four months and never missed a day of work. He liked spending summers on vacation at either his sister?s camp on Lake Rescue with their families or camping in Maine. He loved playing scrabble with his grandsons and taught them a great vocabulary.
He loved to make up silly nonsensical words to put on the board just to get a laugh from you. He had a great corny sense of humor but was a very gentle, quiet, patient man. He enjoyed visiting with all of his farmers. There was nothing Earl couldn?t figure out and fix, from clocks to engines. He could tear anything apart and find out what was wrong with it.
Earl is survived by his son, Phil Bassett; his daughter, Elaine Ives and husband Denis; grandchildren, Cody Ives and wife Megan, Jesse Ives and partner Courtney Maxham, Justin Ives and wife Erica Blodgett Ives; great-grandchildren, Caysen Ives, and Remianna Ives; two great-grand dogs, Sophie and Harley.
There are no calling hours. There will be a graveside memorial service on May 22nd, 2022 at 3:30 pm in Hickey Cemetery on North Road. There will be no reception. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
