Following a long illness, John Richard Bassette, writer and singer of songs, passed on November 9th, 2006 in Cleveland.
Born December 28, 1941 in Hampton, Virginia, John had lived in the Northeast Ohio area, including in Akron, since 1973. A pioneer in the independent record business, he inspired a generation of bands, singers and writers to make and market their own music.
He leaves behind a family of friends, fans and admirers. Through them and through his music, he will live on.
Burial has taken place at Riverside Cemetery in Cleveland.
