Russell Hoyett Bass, Jr.
TARBORO -- Russell Hoyett Bass, Jr. 55 died Monday, September 13, 2004 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Mr. Bass, born in Nash County, was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Hoyett and Frances Martin Bass.
He retired from Sprint after 31 years of service and later established a power washing business known as RHB Services. Much of his free time was enjoyed at Pamlico River with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cherry Hall Bass; son, Russell Hoyett Bass, III and wife, Cecilia of Irmo SC; daughter, Ashley Brooks Bass of Wilmington; sisters, Joan Bass Godwin and husband, Jim of Rocky Mount, Ann Bass Munden and husband, Josh of Rocky Mount, Betsy Bass Hine and& husband, Bill -- Apex; granddaughter, Sophia Eugenia Bass; father-in-law, Robert M. Hall of Tarboro.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2004 Clifton Ridge Drive, Tarboro.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to Edgecombe Community College Foundation-ACT Center, 2009 W. Wilson Street, Tarboro, NC 27886.
