  Notes	Intelligencer Journal, Lancaster, PA, Friday, 3 July 1998 William Hal Bass Sr. William Hal Bass Sr., 72, of 1161 Cleveland St., Waycross, Ga., died Wednesday afternoon at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross after a short illness. Bass retired in 1985 after 12 years as a technician with Burlington Industries in North Carolina. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II. He was a member of Carswell Avenue Christian Church, Waycross. Born in Fairmont, N.C., he was the son of the late Sanford and Emma Helgren Bass. He was married to Ruth Grover Boyd Bass for 10 years. Surviving besides his wife are a son, William H. "Butch" Jr., husband of Amy Bass of Alpharetta, Ga.; two daughters, Debra M., wife of Larry Weaver of Lancaster, and Judith, wife of Jimmy Fipps of Lumberton, N.C.; a stepson, Travis, wife of Cindy Boyd of Waycross; a stepdaughter, Debra Jo Ann, wife of Gary Hersey of Blackshear, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Ervin.
