  Notes	The Fayetteville Observer, North Carolina, Wednesday, August 23, 2000 Billie E. Bass WHITEVILLE -- Billie Elbert Bass, 77, of Smyrna Road died Tuesday in Columbus County Hospital. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Smyrna Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Eddie Burroughs. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Elois S. Bass of the home; a son, Rodney E. Bass of Mobile, Ala.; three daughters, Judy B. Petteway and Vivian Herring, both of Whiteville, and Sherri Worrell of Wilmington; a brother, Earl Rice of Newark, Del.; a sister, Helen Massey of Weaverville; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home.
