Leslie Arthur Bass
Leslie Arthur Bass Sr., 49, a resident of Wakefield, died Monday, Feb. 28, 1994, in his home.
Mr. Bass was a native of Deep Creek and was the son of the late James A. Bass and Eleanor Cowan Bass Keaton. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having received the Purple Heart for his service during Vietnam as a master gunnery sergeant. He was the retired owner of Bass Disbributors and was a member of Wakefield Friends Church.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Anne Freeman Bass; three sons, Christopher Dow Bass, Leslie A. Bass Jr. and Melvin W. Bass, all of Wakefield; his stepfather, V.L. Keaton of Chesapeake; a sister, Delma B. Hayes of Miami; two brothers, James A. Bass of South Mills, N.C. and William N. Bass of Chesapeake; a stepbrother, Bruce Keaton of Oklahoma; a stepson, McAllen Freeman of Madison Heights; and a stepdaughter, Jo Anne Coe of Brookneal.
A funeral will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. Linwood Hairfield. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at 37370 Old Wakefield Road. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
