Bass Sr. of Bay Springs are noon on Wednesday, June 5, at St. Paul M.B. Church, with burial in Bright Star M.B. Church Cemetery in Crystal Springs. The Rev. Joseph Bass will officiate. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Tuesday from noon until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Bass, 70, died May 29, 2013 at his home. He is the former pastor of St. Paul M.B. Church and New Jerusalem M.B. Church in Brookhaven. He also served in the U.S. Army. Preceding him in death were his parents, Cecil Bass and Coria Nicholson Bass. Survivors are his wife, Earlena Montgomery Bass; sons, Julius H. Bass Jr. and wife, Shireva, of Bay Springs, and the Rev. Joseph Bass and wife, Cassandra, of Adger, Ala.; daughters, Zandra Marks and husband, Larry Marks, Jr., of Laurel, and LaTonya Harris of Bay Springs; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
