A funeral will be held on Sunday, Jan. 22 at Newton Grove Baptist Church, Newton Grove, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bret Cody and Rev. Frank Sandy officiating. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Newton Grove. She is preceded in death by husband, Maddrey Weeks Bass; and a son, Don C. Bass. Bass is survived by a son, Maddrey Ray and daughter-in-law Debby Bass of Galax, Va.; four grandchildren, Julian C. Bass of Cleveland, OH., Eliza Bass of Savannah, Ga., Richard Maddrey Bass of Galax, Va., and Kathryn Bass, also of Galax, Va.; a great-grandchild, Colter Bass; and a brother, David Tew, of Roseboro. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Newton Grove Baptist Church c/o Pete Williford at 511 Old Goldsboro Road, Newton Grove, NC, 28366. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. A service of West and Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove.
