Carol Rae Bass
Carol Rae Bass Naples, FL A Life Well Lived Carol Rae Bass (Keene), of Naples, FL, born December 7, 1934, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017, from complications due to a stroke. Carol leaves many gifts to all who knew her. She leaves the gift of hospitality. She was known to open her home and her heart at a moments notice to those who needed her. She leaves the gift of time. She was known to stop what she was doing to lend an ear, to opening her home, or to be the sounding board to anyone who needed her. She leaves the gift of family, there was nothing more important to her than family and the ones she loved. She truly excelled in her role of Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She relished the role and became an integral part of their daily lives. "Granny" as they called her, taught them the meaning of unconditional love and kindness. Carol married her childhood sweetheart, Gerry W. Bass, and spent 57 wonderful years with him raising a family and traveling the world. She was a real estate investor and a property renovator long before Chip and Joanna Gaines made it popular. She was an active member of the Florida International Club in Naples, Florida, Carol excelled in music, playing the organ and piano, whistled like a bird, loved to do ceramics, and was an avid boater, golfer and bowler. Carol will be missed by so many. The light she brought into every room she entered will never be forgotten. She was the strength, the glue and the core of our family. While we grieve the loss of a much loved and respected woman, we can take solace in the legacy that she leaves behind. She is survived by a son, Mark David Bass, a daughter Mary Bass Gossman, granddaughters, Kristina Gossman Ducanes, Jen Bass Allen, great granddaughter Taylor Allen, great grandson Carter Allen, and twin great granddaughters Anice Ducanes and Charlize Ducanes. Sisters, Janette Engelhardt and Susan McClintock, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Private services were held.
