Roosevelt B. Bass
Mr. Roosevelt (Buster) Bass was born in Copiah County on June 5, 1905 to the late Mrs. Ada Mayes.
In early childhood a quest for the salvation of Christ led him into membership of Bushy Creek Baptist Church. Later he moved his membership to Chapel Hill B. Church where he served as a trustee for a number of years. He was a devoted and faithful working member until his health failed.
He was very industrious; he was a carpenter by trade and his work stood out for itself in such a way that he often had more calls than he could fill. He was highly respected by the white people for whom he worked. He was a good neighbor, a law abiding citizen, a man who will be greatly missed in the community. He was a kind, devoted husband, and a dear father. He loved his home, and saw to it that his family was well provided for.
He was united in holy matrimony to Miss Ida Mae Harrison. To this union two children were born.
Buster departed this life at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 1978 at Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital.
He leaves to mourn their loss a devoted and faithful wife, one daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren, two sisters - Elnora and Mattie D. of Los Angeles, California, one brother - Willie Bass of Jackson, Mississippi, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
