Burns Are Fatal For Simpson Man; Last Rites Held
MAGEE, May 19 ? Funeral services for Stanley Bass of Mendenhall were held from the Pleasant Valley Baptist church at Meritt, with the Rev. Guy Little of Pinola, officiating. Mr. Little was assisted in the final rites by the Rev. A. J. Hughes of Braxton. Interment was in the Meritt cemetery.
Mr. Bass? death occurred in a local hospital following an accident which occurred last Monday when gasoline, with which he was cleaning the motor of his truck, became ignited and severely burned him before assistants could render assistance. The accident occurred at Prentiss where he was employed by the state highway department.
Mr. Bass was 39 years of age, a native of Simpson county, and a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist church.
He is survived by the following relatives: his wife, Two sons, Therrell Bass and Travis Bass of Mendenhall; two daughters, Cecil Bass and Lena Mae Bass of Mendenhall; four brothers, Orien Bass of Mendenhall; R.T. Bass of Mendenhall; Doc Bass of Utica and Joe Bass or Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Barlow of Star and Mrs. W.W. Harvey of Florence.
