Bass was a Mason and a member of Runyan Baptist Church. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church by the Revs. Gary Wise and James Thomason. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park by Griffin Leggett/Rest Hills. Memorial may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors are his wife, Margarett T. Bass; three sons, James Howard Bass Jr. of Crowley, Texas, Henry Dean Bass of Jacksonville and Michael David Bass of North Little Rock; two daughters, Susan Jewl Akin of Pottsville and Katherine Elizabeth Ridgeway of Russellville; two brothers, Dean Eugene Bass and John Edmond Bass, both of Birmingham Ala.; and a sister, Ruthie Jane Bass Howard of Birmingham.
