Robert Burnett Bass
NORFOLK - Capt. Robert Burnett Bass, 65, of 6435 Wailes Ave., a retired fire captain of the Naval Amphibious base Fire Department, died in a hospital Friday.
He was the husband of Mrs. Vaughty Miller Bass and the son of John and Mrs. Clara Bates Bass.
A native of Asheville, N.C., he lived in Norfolk 29 years.
He attended Azalea Garden Beamon Road Church of God.
He retired in 1964 from the Amphibious Base Fire Department after 23 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jack B. Bass of Norfolk and Loyce B. Bass of San Diego, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Louise Patterson of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Barbara L. Henson of Norfolk; two brothers, Frank Bass and Hubert Bass of Asheville, two sisters, Mrs. Lily Raby and Mrs. Grace Bryson of West Asheville, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
The family will be at 1201 Land St.
