Howard Lee Bass
Howard Lee Bass, age 84, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late William Bass and Laurena Hicks. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Helen Jones, Leatrice Woodard, Lessie Bass, Belinda Joyner and brothers, William Bass, Jr., and Junius Sauls. Howard was a retired bus driver and Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army.
A service to celebrate Howard?s life will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at 6:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The family will greet friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. A committal service with military honors will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 1st at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Howard is survived by his son, Martin ?Monte? Dickerson & wife, Barbara; a sister, Dalphine (Freddie) Bynum; brothers, Ricky Bass and James Earl (Cynthia) Bass; and a grandson, Lamont Dickerson; along with a host of Nieces and Nephews, other relatives and family.
