Edwin H. Hallberg
Edwin H. Hallberg, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline J. (Bassett) Hallberg who passed away March 27, 2008.
Edwin was born in Lowell on April 30, 1942, a son of the late Henry and Leah Hallberg. He was a lifelong resident of Lowell and served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 until 1963.
Edwin was employed as a union painter with District Council 35 in Roslindale for 20 years. He was a painting contractor for H & M Nostrums Painting Company in Newton and the Christian Science Church of Boston for 15 years until his retirement.
Edwin was an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed going for walks, fishing, playing horseshoes and dancing at the SAC club in Lowell. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his two sons, George Bassett of Billerica and Michael Hallberg of Lowell. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Danielle and Rachelle Bassett and Joshua, Ashlee and Justin Hallberg. He also leaves his longtime companion, Maureen Demers of Lowell and her children Ronnie, Kevin and Ricky and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eileen James.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Edwin's life at the M. R. Laurin & Son Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, April 10 from 2 to 5 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central St., Lowell. Interment with military honors to follow at Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell.
