Betty Benton Bass
Mrs. Bass, beloved wife, mother, Na Na and sister, passed away into her eternal life on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2004 at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2004 from the sanctuary of Matthews Presbyterian Church with Dr. John A. Wilkerson, Reverend Catherine George and Reverend Lisa Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Bass was born May 31, 1937 in Matthews, NC, a daughter of Myrtle Brown Benton of Matthews and the late Johnny Benton. She was a lifelong member of Matthews Presbyterian Church and the Past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Matthews Chapter 461 and currently was a member of the Mint Hill Chapter, 353.
Mrs. Bass is survived by her beloved husband of fifty years, Bill M. Bass, whom she married December 29, 1953; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna Bass; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Lee Biggerstaff; sisters, Maxine Spears, Faye Cotty, Vivian Hartis and Dianne Ritchey; brother, Moffat Benton; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
