Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church building fund. Mr. Bass died Friday, June 30, 1995. Born in Union County, N.C., he was a son of Callie Helms Bass and the late James Hoyle Bass. He attended Wingate College and Limestong College and was a mechanical supervisor with Bowater Carolina. He served in the Army and the North Carolina National Guard and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Hinson Bass of Lancaster; a daughter, Mill Mothershed of Lancaster; sons, Todd Bass of Homosassa, Fla., and Jason Bass and Ron Mothershed, both of Lancaster; his mother of Mornoe, N.C.; a brother, Larry Bass of Marshville, N.C.; and maternal grandmother, Ethel Hlems of Monroe.
