Twenty Years Ago
William W. Bessette and Miss Bessie Quinlin were united in marriage on Wednesday by Rev. E.G. Brice.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bessette Died September 27th
Mrs. Elizabeth (Bessie) Bessette, widow of the late William W. Bessette, died at the Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone, last Friday night. She had been a patient in the hospital since the previous Tuesday.
The deceased was born in Leadville, Colorado on June 1, 1873, a daughter of the late Patrick W. and Margaret (Ryan) Quinlin. When a child she came to Chateaugay and ever since lived here. In April 1915 her marriage to William W. Bessette took place. His death occurred on July 1, 1935.
The deceased was a lifelong resident of this village. She was a lady of pleasing personality, a steadfast Christian woman and was an accomplished musician.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick, New Milford, N.J., and John, Chateaugay; eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Her oldest son, William Q. Bessette died August 3, 1962.
She was in repose at the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held on Monday morning at St. Patrick’s Church, and burial was made in the church cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Russell De Chambeau. Arthur Nolan, Joseph Wood, Robert Ryan, James McDonald and Robert Meagher.
