Twenty Years Ago
William W. Bessette and Miss Bessie Quinlin were united in marriage on Wednesday by Rev. E.G. Brice.

William W. Bessette
The sudden and unexpected death of William W. Bessette at his home at about 2 o’clock Monday morning come as a distinct shock to the community and caused sincere sorrow to a wide circle of friends.
Mr. Bessette had been in the enjoyment of his usual health and was about the street during the early part of the evening, but shortly after retiring he complained of intense stomach pains. A doctor was hurriedly summoned and upon his arrival he found that the patient was suffering from a severe attack of indigestion. Remedies were applied, but these were without avail, and death came within a very brief time.
Mr. Bessette was born in Malone 52 years ago, and when a young lad he accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bessette, to this village, and had since made his home here. He took up the occupation as a barber when a young man and this he had followed up to the time of his death. As a member of the community he gained the good will and friendship of all. He was possessed of a kindly disposition, a desire to be of service to his fellowmen, and withal be a citizen who filled his place with credit. His passing is a source of sorrow not alone to be the bereaved family , but to the neighborhood as well.
Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s church at 9:30 o’clock Wednesday morning, Rev. J.R. McClure officiating. Interment was in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
A large delegation of members from the Johnson Hunting Club acted as a guard of honor at the funeral cortege.
On April 7, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Quinlin and he is survived by his widow, three sons, William, Patrick and John Bessette, his father, Nelson Bessette, four sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Fred Sancomb, of this village, Mrs. William McGarr, of Glens Falls, Mrs. Dewey Barrows, of Windsor, Vt., Mrs. Donald Waite, of Brattleboro, Vt., Nelson, of Chateaugay, Norman, of Malone and Bert. of Canton.
