WEST LAFAYETTE: George S. Bassett, 62, of West Lafayette passed away on Wednesday December 16, 2015.
George was born in Coshocton on July 24, 1953 to the late Arthur and Helen (Ramsey) Bassett. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and the Army National Guard for two years. George had worked at Stone Creek Brick Company for many years and was employed at Kraft Foods for several years until his health wouldn't allow him any longer.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. George treasured time with his family and getting together with his brothers on Friday nights.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda J. (Wolfe) Bassett whom he married on July 18, 1975; three children, Sherry (Jason) Mikesell of Coshocton, Brian Bassett of Fresno and Jessica (Chuck King) Bassett of West Lafayette; three grandchildren, Tad Landis Jr., Bethany Landis and Taylor Bassett; three brothers, Richard (Cindy) Bassett of West Lafayette, Russell (Mary) Bassett of Conesville and Dale (Linda) Bassett of Coshocton; sister-in-law, Ann Bassett of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews; and his special canine companions, Roscoe, Daisy and Heidi.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Billy Bassett.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday December 20, 2015 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Funeral services for George will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors.
