Robert Bass
FAIRMONT ? Mr. Robert Bass, 78, of Fairmont, died Aug. 14, 2014, at Duke University Hospital after an illness. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lake View First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lake View Perpetual Cemetery, directed by Cooke Funeral Home. Mr. Bass was born in Robeson County, the son of the late Albert and Maggie Parker Bass. He was a dedicated member of Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department since September of 1993, where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He was also a devoted member of Lake View First Baptist Church. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Betty Stephens Bass; a daughter, Sharon Bass Mendenhall (Jay); two grandchildren, Kristin King (Justin) and Steele Mendenhall (Allison); two brothers, Bill Bass of Lumberton and Dennis Morgan (Gladys) of Raleigh; five sisters, Marie King and Carolyn Lewis (Russell), both of Richmond Va, Dottie Bullock (Maurice) and June King (Leslie), both of Lake View, and Bonita Rogers (Roy) of Fairmont. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Bass, and a sister, Geraldine Watson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Lake View First Baptist Church.
