William Henry ?Buck? Bass
ELM CITY?Mr. William Henry "Buck" Bass, 83, completed his life's journey on Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
Buck, a native of Pitt County, grew up in the Bear Grass community where he married Jean Harrison Bass in 1958, and resided in Bear Grass until 1971 when his family moved to Wilson County. He worked as a carpenter and was an avid hunter, outdoors-man and animal lover.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Jean Harrison Bass; his parents, Henry Bass and Minnie Stalls Bass; infant son, William Herbert Bass; great-granddaughter, Leah Grace Bass; sisters, Annie Gurganus, Louise Modlin, and Shirley Stalls.
He is survived by his sons, Johnny Bass and wife, Laura, of Hertford and Thomas Bass and wife, Brandi, of Macclesfield; daughters, Gloria Stoudemire and husband, Glenn, of Louisburg, Tammy Bass, of Elm City and Sy'Donna Bass Braswell and husband, Randy, of Elm City; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two honorary grandchildren; brother, Willie Bass; sisters, Georgeanna Terry, Mary Spain and Katie Stalls.
A visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston. The graveside service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 in Martin Memorial Gardens in Williamston. The family has requested that everyone wear camouflage attire to honor his love of hunting and animals.
The family will receive family and friends at other times at the residence of Thomas Bass, 7338 Shallington Mill Road, Macclesfield.
