Doris Bass, Duff Massey Are Married (Includes picture of Doris)
Miss Doris Jeanne Bass of Dallas and Hutchins was married Saturday night to Duff Henry Massey in a ceremony erad by the rev. C. R. Holsapple of Fort Worth in the First Methodist Church of Hutchins.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Smith Bass of Hutchins. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. D.H. Massey of Fort Worth and the late Mr. Massey.
Miss Nancy Perkins and Cyril Maxwell Jr. presented music at the wedding. Mr. Bassett gave his daughter in marriage.
The bride?s gown of white organdy was fashioned with a fitted jacket and a chapel-length train. Her illusion veil fell from a cap of pleated tulle, and she carried an orchid with stephanotis and valley lilies.
Mrs. Malcolm E. Thomas of Hutchins was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. John Bass, Lubbock; Mrs. Homer Nabors, Denton; Miss Mary Nell Chapman, Hutchins.
Mr. Nabors was best man. Groomsmen were John Norman, Blair Justice and Charles Driscoll, all of Fort Worth; John Bass, Lubbock; Kenneth Bass, Hutchins.
A garden reception was held at the home of the bride?s parents. The house party included Mrs. Cortell Holsapple Jr., Fort Worth; Mrs. Neil Daniel and Mrs. Fred Mussina.
The newlyweds will reside in Fort Worth after a wedding trip to the Gulf Coast.
The bride attended Arlington State College and was graduated from Southern Methodist University, where she belonged to Alpha Delta Pi sorority. The bridegroom was graduated from Texas Christian University. He belongs to TCU Ex-Letterman?s Association.

Fort Worth, Texas - Born on March 9, 1932, Doris Jean (Bass) Massey brought joy and love to all. She left us peacefully on August 17, 2023, but her warmth and kindness live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 1 at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday August 31 at Greenwood.
Doris was married to Duff Henry Massey in 1954. They spent their life in Fort Worth, Texas, where they built a home filled with cherished memories. Doris was born in Hutchins, Texas, to the late Stella Mae Bass and Jess Smith Bass. She has two brothers, the late Kenneth Bass (Glenda, late) and Johnny Bass (Mary Lou, late).
Doris earned a BA in Interior Design from SMU in 1953 and was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Her passion for creativity led her to a successful career of 40 years as an interior designer. She was also on the Board of Directors for ASID. She co-owned several restaurants in Fort Worth, leaving an indelible mark on her community. Doris was an active member of the Junior Women's Club of Fort Worth. She cherished social interactions and valued the time spent with friends dearly. Doris loved sports. She possessed a culinary prowess and found solace in exploring the world through travel.
Doris Jean Bass's life journey was one of love, strength, and grace. Her memory lives on through her family and friends. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the vibrant and meaningful life she led.
Her love and wisdom are carried on by her children, Kirk Massey (Patricia) and Jan Massey Martin (Tye). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Joe Martin (Stephanie) and Kristen Massey (Ryan).
