Lester W. Bass Sr.
Lester W. Bass Sr., 66, of 509 Lombard St., Tamaqua, died Saturday in his home. He was the husband of Evelyn (Keich) Bass.
He was a truck driver for the Atlas Powder Co., Reynolds, for the past many years.
Born in Wilson, N.C., he was a son of the late John and Beatrice (West) Bass.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua, where he was a former church deacon.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific Theater of Operations.
Surviving with his widow are three sons, Lester W. Jr. of Palmerton, Gary G. of Chesapeake, Va., and David A. of Endicott, N.Y.; a daughter, Dianne L. Ontiveros of Cancun, Mexico; three brothers, Alex of Tarboro, N.C., John H. Jr. of Wilson, N.C., and Robert of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Poythress and Mrs. Beulah Rupp, both of Wilson, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Jon M. Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Monday.
