Charlotte Bass Lilly was born to Robert Brucks Bass and Marilee Labiche Bass on June 5, 1950 in Frankfurt, Germany. She passed away at home on November 15, 2015. Charlotte was a 1968 graduate of Mount Carmel Academy. Her professional career was devoted to her advertising agency, Table 25, focusing on print advertising. Most important to Charlotte was her involvement in the care and rescue of animals. For years she was a member of the Board of the Louisiana SPCA. After evacuating due to Hurricane Katrina, Charlotte immediately returned to New Orleans and joined the volunteers rescuing abandoned and lost animals from the flood waters. This effort led to her involvement in Animal Rescue New Orleans. ARNO established and operates Louisiana's only no-kill animal shelter. ARNO has rescued and placed over 8,000 animals in the ten years since its inception. Charlotte was a founding member of the Board of ARNO, its driving force, and served as its executive director until her death. She also was for years a member of the Board of Directors of the Krewe of Barkus and acted as one of the managers of the annual Barkus Parade. She was also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Krewe on Endymion. Charlotte also wrote a weekly column in the Louisiana Advocate devoted to animal concerns. She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Lilly, her brother, Robert B. Bass, Jr., his wife Sally and their children, R.B. and Lesley, and her sister, Michelle Bass Bruce, and her husband Brian. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Charlotte's name to ARNO (271 Plauche St., Elmwood, LA 70123, 504.571.1900). Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday November 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 8:30 am and continue until Mass time. Condolences may be expressed at www.schoenfh.com.
