William L. Lowry, deceased, was born in Harrison County, April 17, 1837 and died March 28, 1877. His father, William Lowry, was born in South Carolina and died July 4, 1869. His mother was Rebecca Stevenson who was born February 19, 1773. William L. Lowry was educated in Harrison County and began life with farming. He was married in Harrison County, January 4, 1871, to Elizabeth Bassett who was born August 6, 1829. She is the daughter of Jonathan Bassett who was born in 1801, and Elizabeth Disher who was born December 13, 1803. He was twice married, and by his first wife had four children: William E., Kate, Anna and Scott. His surviving wife is a member of the Baptist Church, and she has a farm of 270 acres of land four miles from Cynthiana on Connersville Pike called "Hollow Spring". Mr. Lowry was in politics a Republican.
