COATICOOK, Quebec - Romain Bessette, 86, died Sept. 24, 2011, at Sherbrooke Hospital in Sherbrooke, Quebec.Mr. Bessette was born on Dec. 5, 1924, in St. Edwidge, Quebec, the son of the late Olivier and Angelina (Routhier) Bessette. He grew up in St. Edwidge, Quebec and attended local schools. He later moved to the United States and was a resident of Manchester for 30 years. In 2004, he moved back to Canada, where he has resided since then.Mr. Bessette was employed at Kalwall for many years.Members of his family include; his wife of 64 years, Carmelle (Cote) Bessette, of Coaticook; three sons, Rene Bessette of Candia, N.H., Fernand Bessette of Colebrook, NH, Marc Bessette, of Manchester, N.H.; five daughters, Gaetane Bessette of Colebrook, N.H.; Martine Goulet, Carmen Pouliot, Mariette Tremblay, Raymonde Lachance, all of Manchester; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Therese Comeau, of Canada; many nieces, nephews and cousins.SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., corner of Union Street, in Manchester.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Ste. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., in Manchester. Committal prayers will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Manchester.Memorial donations may be made to the the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O.
