Mrs. Bass was born in Newberry and was a lifetime resident. She was a food service manager for Alachua County Schools and worked at Westwood Middle School. She retired in 1990. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newberry. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Richard Douglas Bass of Newberry; two daughters, Brenda Fay Bass of Gainesville and Pamela Kay Kuehl of Newberry; a son, Kelvin Douglas Bass of Newberry; two brothers, Daniel Ray Nipper of Santa Fe and Thomas William Nipper of Newberry; two sisters, Louise P. McDavid and Georgia N. King of Newberry; and one granddaughter.
