Dr. Spencer Pippen Bass Jr.
TARBORO ? Dr. Spencer Pippen Bass Jr., 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006. The funeral will be held at noon today at Greenwood Cemetery, Arrangements are by Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro.

Spencer P. Bass
Spencer Pippen Bass Jr., M. D., who was born on March 9, 1912, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
He was a graduate of the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Va. He was an intern, fellow and assistant resident at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va., the University of Virginia, the University of Tennessee at Memphis, Duke Hospital, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, N. C. Baptist Hospital and the University of North Carolina as an assistant resident in medicine assigned to hematology.
He was certified by the American Board of Pathology. He was a pathologist in hospitals mainly in Columbia, S.C., and Greensboro.
His memberships included the Nash County and N.C. Medical Societies, the American Medical Association and the Zeta Psi Fraternity.
Graveside service will be noon Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, N. C. Chapter.
Funeral arrangements are by Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro.
